Certain Conventional Weapons Convention (CCWC)
Iceland is a Member State of the 1980 Convention on Prohibitions and Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects (Certain Conventional Weapons Convention - CCWC), as amended in 2001 and its five protocols. They are Protocol I on non-detectable framgmens (1980), Protocol II on mines, booby-traps (1980, as amended in 1996), Protocol III on incendiary weapons (1980), Protocol IV on blinding laser weapons (1995) and Protocol V on explosive remnants of war (2003).
The implementation of the convention and its further development, including the inclusion of cluster munitions, are discussed in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations.
