Group of Eight (G-8)
The Gropu of Eight, originally established in 1975 as the Group of Six, is a forum for consultations among leaders and ministers of eight of the world's largest economies. The summit meetings have regularly adopted documents on disarmament and security related issues. In 2002 the G-8 adopted the Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction (GP). In 2006, the G-8 adopted the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT).
