Mines
Iceland supports restrictions on the development, production, sale and use of mines based on the Anti-Personnel Landmine Convention (APLC) of 1997, the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) of 1980 and the Cluster Munitions Convention (CCM). Iceland also supports:
- That all states adhere to the above-mentioned conventions.
- That measures will be taken to develop the conventions further in order to minimize humanitarian trauma caused by mines.
- Assistance to the victims of mines.
- Assistance in mine detection and mine clearance.
- Training of mines experts.
- That cooperation will be established with other States, the International Red Cross and other organisations, with the aim of attaining the objectives of international obligations concerning prohibition against mines.
