Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO)

The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Test-Ban Treaty Organisation (CTBTO) was established in 1996. This international organisation functions on a transitional basis, until the Treaty itself  (CTBT) will enter into force. CTBTO will be responsible for implementation of the Treaty and serve as a consultation forum for the Member States. The Commission contributes to the establishment of a control mechanism for the Treaty. Two control points, under the auspices of CTBTO, are situated in Iceland.
