Iceland and the European Union (EU) consult and cooperate in the areas of foreign policy and security on the basis of the EEA-Agreement, which includes a joint statement made by the Governments of the EU-Member States and the EEA-EFTA-States on political dialogue. The EEA-EFTA-States are invited to accede to certain EU Council's Common Foreign and Security Policy Statements (CFSP) and statements at meetings of international organisations.

- Strategy against thr proliferation of WMD (2003)
- Strategy to combat illicit accumulation and trafficking of SALW and their ammunition (2005)
- European Union Code of Conduct on Arms Exports (1988, rev. 2008/944/CFSP)
- Common Military List (2000, rev. 2010).
Iceland implements the EU code of conduct on Arms Exports and most EU restrictive measures, including arms embargos, adopted by common positions.
