Promoting Culture

An important pillar of the Ministry's work is to look after Iceland's cultural interests and support promotion of arts and culture abroad.

Iceland's embassies around the world act as facilitators and supporters, connecting artists, art promotors and institutions from Iceland and other countries. They also present Iceland as a cultural destination and prepare visits of artistic directors and cultural journalists to Iceland. Cultural activities by embassies are financed with contributions from public funds of ministries often in collaboration with art promoting centers and instututions. Also Icelandic businesses have been keen on promoting Icelandic artists abroad. You will find information about varous fields of arts and culture in the sectors below.
