Statement by Iceland (no 76 of 84)

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Honduras and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

  1. Adopt a comprehensive law on sexual and gender-based violence, and protocols to investigate violence against women, including femicide.
  2. Amend the Criminal code to criminalize marital rape.
  3. Ensure assistance and remedies for victims of gender-based violence.
  4. Legalize abortion in all circumstances.
  5. Ensure access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
  6. Decriminalize same-sex relations between consenting adults.
  7. Introduce a transparent administrative self-identification process for legal gender recognition free from intrusive requirements.
  8. Develop, enact, and enforce comprehensive legislation that criminalizes all forms of discrimination against persons of diverse SOGIESC.

I wish Honduras all success for its review.

I thank you.
