Statement by Iceland (no 75 of 79)

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Croatia and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

  1. Fully implement the Istanbul Convention through national laws and policies, ensuring a gender-sensitive approach throughout
  2. Ensure sustainable funding for specialized, inclusive and accessible shelters for victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
  3. Collect and publish disaggregated data on all forms of gender-based violence to guide evidence-based policy and response.
  4. Remove barriers and ensure universal access to abortion.
  5. Respect intersex children’s right to self-determination and ban medically unnecessary surgeries.
  6. Ban conversion therapy.

I wish Croatia all success for its review.

I thank you.
